Greetings, members and friends of Tabernacle Church! Welcome to a new spin on Stewardship! We're conducting an experiment with current technology, to enhance what churches have done for centuries...build community.
We've started this Stewardship Blog to start conversations, share information & ideas, and build awareness and excitement about stewardship. Please add your posts, respond to others' posts, ask your questions, and share your thoughts. Add links to articles that have inspired or informed you.
Many of us are new at this and obviously this is uncharted territory. We're open to ideas about how to make it better, so please feel free to share.
Everyone comes to Stewardship from a different place. We hope this blog is a forum to help you examine and define your "place" a little more clearly and prayerfully.

This is really cool! Tabernacle Church has gone "techie". Hope all my dear friends at Tabernacle Church try our new mode of communication. And pass their passion about our church. My first passion, of many, are the giving people. Stay in touch, everyone!
I thought Shelly's sermon yesterday was great! She got us to think about the question "What percentage of my income is God calling me to share with Tabernacle?" I like having a question with which to begin a conversation with God.
It took me a minute to figure out how to submit a message. (Maybe that's just me....)For those of us who are low-tech, maybe Jack could explain how people can contribute to this blog once we've signed in.
Hello fellow Bloggers!
I also want to say to Shelly that I enjoyed your sermon on Sunday. I think stewarship is a huge topic and one that some people are quite sensitive to and by bringing your humor and your personal experience to it made it accessible to others. It also made me excited to be a part of this year's campaign!
Congratulations Shelly on a wonderful, thought provoking sermon on Sunday. Let's Pass the Passion at Tabernacle!!
Jack and Shelly are great teammates! Thanks to Jack (& kids) for this Tech Adventure and to Shelly for consistent, passionate leadership of Stewardship this season.
Go Team Go!

thanks for setting this up Jack....and thank you Liz for keeping me posted on Tabernacle news. I am still working on Sundays, but I think of you often. Passing the passion to you all!!
Janiebug, I am glad you have a vehicle to communicate with everyone! If you have any questions about stewardship, please let us know! Thanks for the kudos, everyone,
Thanks for the weblog, Shelley! Marvelous.
What we call stewardship is vital - sort of like managing the flow of blood in our bodies.
Here is something to think about and discuss: Should we talk about stewardship in terms of "giving"? Or might we think about it as pooling our resources to accomplish community goals? Or as RevBiddle wrote: sharing.
Giving is good; but sharing is better, I think. Sharing implies a persistent commitment that giving does not.
That would elevate "passing" the passion to "sharing" the passion. What does our congregation really want to accomplish together?? And what does that take collectively? We need that blood, and we need to get it flowing.
I think this is a great idea!!.Also, I'm happy to be a new member of the choir as well as my friend maria!

I love to read everyone's comments. Good to see Mike and Terri on! I love that word "sharing"...a persistent commitment Jack, maybe you can use that word next week as you remind people to gather together as teams. My wish is that everyone in our congregation talks to God about their contribution to our community!! Go Tabernacle, go Tabernacle!!
We got the letter--we're getting the passsion---but how do we connect with our team that's listed in the letter????
Brad's Mom, the leader/coordinator of your group (asterisk next to the name) should be calling you very soon to coordinate your group's get-together. Give them a call if you want to jump-start things. Thanks for getting the passion!!
Jack M.
Well, I think it's very cool that Tabernacle is trying a new way of connecting as a community. Since I just got confirmed last year, I really have no idea what Stewardship is about, so I'm interested to learn.
